About the Awards

The Hunter regional awards are conducted annually and are designed to reward and promote vocational education and training [VET] excellence in our region.

With the growing importance of vocational training in enhancing the region’s prosperity, the Awards play a critical role in the economic landscape by encouraging and celebrating excellence in skills development. Organisations that participate in the Regional Awards as sponsors, are recognised as leading contributors in building a skilled region which in turn assists with decreasing the National Skills Shortage.

Many disciplines are represented at the Regional Training Awards, including; metals and engineering, automotive, hairdressing, commercial cookery, business and more.

The Hunter regional awards are conducted annually through the Hunter Regional Apprenticeship and Traineeship Advisory Committee [HRATA} and winners from these awards often progress onto the State Training Awards and in some cases, the National Awards.

The Awards Presentation Night

The HRATA committee is proud to host the 2011 Regional Training Awards at Club Panthers in the Newcastle CBD on Friday 24th June 2011. This is a gala event with approximately 500 attendees and 30-40 awards being presented, live entertainment and a three course dinner with full media coverage. The event Master of Ceremonies is John Church.

The awards presentation night enjoys a profiled attendance including;

• The Mayor of Newcastle
• The Commissioner for Vocational Education and Training
• The Minister for the Hunter
• Employers & industry representatives
• Apprentices and Trainees and their very proud families

The HRATA Committee is calling for 2 Platinum Sponsors for;

• Overall Apprentice of the Year
• Overall Trainee of the year

Gold Sponsorship

Sponsors in the Gold Sponsorship will sponsor the following awards;

• Vocational Student of the Year
• Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Student of the Year
• VET in schools excellence award [awarded to a school in the Hunter Region]
• School based Apprentice/ Trainee of the Year
• Vet in School Student of the Year
• VET trainer / teacher of the year
• Industry collaboration award

Silver Sponsorship

Sponsors in the silver Sponsorship will sponsor each trade or calling [approximately 30-35 categories
